Hi everyone...

Just looking for a bit of advice.

My boyfriend and I are planning on travelling Australia the end of next year.

We want to visit the following areas: Sydney - Queensland (Gold Coast, etc), Darwin, Uluru and finally a brief stop in Adelaide as we are planning on shark cage diving in Port Lincoln (which I believe is a 6hour drive from Adelaide?).

We do not mind the way in which we go...either starting in Sydney or Adelaide.

Is this realistically do-able in 4,5 weeks?

We are aiming to save around £3,000 each - is this an ok budget (not including the shark diving)? We are interested in doing the following: a theme park in Sydney, water park in Sydney, Steve Irwins Zoo, Fraser Island, Whitsundays, Croc place in Darwin, maybe sky diving... etc.

Can anyone offer me a best route around...and by what means?

Thanks so much for any help provided!

Hi, :)
I think your trip is fully realistic. OK in 4 weeks if you intend to takes some planes, in 5 if you want to travel fully on the road.

I did almost the same 9 years ago:
Sydney--> Cairns by plane
Cairns --> Darwin by plane
Darwin --> Alice Springs by Regular Bus
Alice Springs--> Uluru --> Adelaide by private car

The whole trip, including flights from and back to Europe, took 4 week.

I also enjoyed going to:
- Blue Mountains from Sydney
- Cape Tribulation and Great Barrier Reef from Cairns
- Kangaroo Island from Adelaide.

I cannot help you for the budget as I do not remember anymore. There are cheap backpackers everywhere

Enjoy your preparation and your trip !:)
