No personal experience sorry but you could check the transport listed in the guide: New Zealand: Getting Around

We have local buses in the cities and national buses from city to city. And several regional airports too. There's also a ferry service between Wellington at the bottom of the North Island and Picton at the top of the South island. See https://www.interislander.co.nz/. If you land at Auckland airport, a taxi from there to the city centre will knock you back the best part of NZD 90 - better value is the Airbus Express which is NZD16 one-way, NZD28 return - see http://www.airbus.co.nz/. For bussing between cities, see Naked Bus at http://www.airbus.co.nz/. For internal air travel, Air New Zealand have Grabaseat at http://grabaseat.co.nz/?gclid=CNaOw_yEq8ACFZAsvQodnikA_w&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=flights and Jetstar sometimes do specials too.
We do have a railway service, KiwiRail at http://www.kiwirailscenic.co.nz/?gclid=CMuM56WFq8ACFdclvQodc1UAGA

Enjoy New Zealand!

Hey guys,

I spent 2 months in NZ, the best ones in my life!! :)
I travelled with Stray which is for me the best way to enjoy it while meeting people and to not stress about organizing everything. You can travel everywhere in NZ for one full year with their passes and discover the wonders of the nature and the Maori culture.

I'm still writing my blogposts about it (yeah I know, I'm a few months late, but didn't stop travelling since then, so...) on this address: -snip-

Enjoy it!

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
