Hi Michael, I thing I understand how you feel.

Last year I went to Bali -snip- and had a reel low period there feeling anxious and alone eventhough I was surrounded by many other friendly tourists and locals.

Two things got me moving on from there:

1. I slowed down my travelling pace and cut off some of my trips

2. I started to get more sleep and eating more healthy.

Hope you'll be okay out there!

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

oh well, seems like we kind of on the different route, i'll be travels in Java until early october, and will going to KL,Malaysia. Bali is pretty nice but like i said, you have to be very aware with all of scams. specially around touristy area, like Kuta Beach. i also recommend you to go to lombok or gili trawangan.
borneo is also nice. no doubt its my best destination.
travel safe!:)

Good luck, Michael, I hope you are feeling better! I just came back from a 3 months trip travelling on my own and LOVED it! But I also needed some time to get used to the travelling alone part in the first 3 weeks, so don't be too hard on yourself, yes it is normal, especially if you are not a superexperienced traveller and the country you are in is not an easy one to handle. But it'll get easier by the day and I'm pretty sure that after a while you will even get a bit tired of meeting new people all the time and will want to spend some time on your own! In the meantime, my "trick" to not be alone, was to book 1-2 day group tours. Also make sure you stay in hostels with good common rooms, that makes it easier to connect as well.

Hi,
It's sad you feel that way.
Travelling alone can be a great experience... if you don't stay alone to much. I mean you need to meat people. It's the best thing you can do travelling !
Hope you will feel that joy again !
