I bought a Vodafone dongle in Egypt this year with one months usage and it worked so much cheaper than paying the charges the hotel were asking.
We are staying in Australia for 6 weeks in November this year I had thought of using the Dongle again paying for the usage when we get there.
Does anyone know if this will work out for me and how I can find out the costs. I've not been able to find anything out searching the Internet.
Hi Jeanie, not sure that you can use the *same* dongle, but you can definitely get the same kinds of plans here as well. And yes, this is a great way to go for internet connectivity. Not only does it work out cheaper than what the hotels normally would charge, but it's also more secure.
Have a look here at the dongle options Vodafone has in Australia.
Another option if you have a smart phone is to get a sim card with some data access. You can then share the connection with your computer over WiFi and use it the same way you would use a dongle.
Thank you for your response much appreciated.
I don't have a smart phone, hubby as a worldwide phone but the old type.
I use my net book when traveling and Skype the family to keep in touch and it works out great. The calls are so much cheaper as well via Skype.
I checked out the link and the pay as you go cost was a good price but nothing about dongle cost.
I'll go into our Vodafone shop in town to check this all out.
I had thought that I could use the dongle I have and the shop would just change the sim card when I bought the months use.
We are traveling in a camper van for 5 weeks so a dongle would be the best choice for us
The page mentions the one-off modem cost of $25 which is the dongle. Yes, I'd kind of expect you would be able to use your current one so hopefully you can avoid having to pay for another one
