Me and my GF are landing in Cairns in November. Both 24 years old. We are looking at heading down the coast to be in Sydney for New year and then onto Melbourne or Adelaide to work. Im a Qualified Toolmaker/Welder and GF a Sales manager. We are thinking about doing the Greyhound bus. But i would love to drive it in a camper if the budget can stretch.
We looking for anybody or couple also planning this route. And any advice off any other travelers who have done the East coast.
Hey mate, me and my girlfriend leave end of October for Cairns both similar age im 24 shes 21. We plan on heading down the east coast and also finding work around Adelaide area, we have a years working visa. You thought anymore about how your'e going to travel it? Campervans really appeal to me but as you said see what the money situation is!
Wow pritty much the exact same as us. Ive priced up the camper and it does look very expensive so i think its the GreyHound bus for us. We are in a cheap hotel for 12 days in Cairns so our last day will be the 17th of November.
Do you have any plans set yet?
Yeah as I read your post I thought the same thing! we've booked 10 nights in cairns to settle in and get over jet lag etc then we're thinking of heading up to port Douglas/Daintree to have a look around and would like to rent a camper to travel in at least for part of the trip down the coast, maybe for a week or two? You checked out jucy or wicked campers? Then it will be the greyhound or oz experience as it is cheap and you can hop on and off as you please. To be honest mate this isn't a set plan we're just gonna go with the flow and if we enjoy somewhere we will spend a bit more time there. Our itinerary is basically the typical backpacker east coast route. What about you mate what's your plans?
Hey all! Why don't you buy a car? Me and my boyfriend bought a ford falcon station wagon for $1200 it's a 1997 but great car, we've travelled up from Brisbane in it and it's so big we put an air bed in the back and stopped at all the free campsites along the way that's on the wikicamps app so in the long run we've saved money on accomodation and travel because we'll be able to sell the car for the same amount. Good thing about buying a car in cairns is people end their trip here so sell their cars, if you catch them a day before they fly you can get yourself a bargain. On gumtreee you'll see their selling them for like 3k ignore that you'll get the price down
Were going to Bali for a month for Xmas and new year because Sydney is so expensive we're flying from Melbourne on the 15th of December still deciding wether to road trip or fly!
I'll be getting to Brisbane on 19th November and travelling down to Sydney for Xmas. Would be cp to find people to do this with
Hey sophie, thanks for the tips sounds like a good idea! When we get to cairn we will have a look around and see what cars are about bali looks amazing enjoy your trip!
