I was going to start a new thread, then remembered this one...

Is it possible to add one or two comments in the spam dropdown menu? As it stands now, the choices are: Promotional, Duplicate or Inflammatory. (Like you didn't know that all ready...) But, I have gotten quite a few comments from members who hate using the spam button when the infraction is just an e-mail address or a website.

I know it's just a little thing, but would it be possible to add something on the order of "Personal Information", Personal Website, Personal E-mail Address" or whatever else sounds good, so those who do have spam buttons will be more willing to use them when necessary?

The Moderators can normally figure out what needs to be edited or deleted from a spammed post - that's not the problem. The problem lies with the members who are hesitant to use the button because there isn't a choice representative of the infraction.

One last thing... Tina has asked that one of the "Why is this Spam?" choices be: "Unacceptable Grammar" or "Blantant Misuse of Grammar". (What do you expect from as copywriter??!!)

(Pssst... You didn't hear this from me - she may know her grammar, but she can't spell.)

No, no, no - what I suggested was "Rampant Misuse of Grammar". Like, anything more than 2 infractions! Altho I runs the risk, of getting spamed my selfs: ;)

Sorry! I forgot which word you had used when making your request. They both end in "ant" so you can understand my confusion - especially yesterday (Thursday). Today probably won't be much better... Bear with me... Thanks! ;)

Tee hee! I was actually just teasing you (must use funny emoticons more often). No matter which way you put it, I still look anal! But - down with bad grammar! Boo to lack of commas! I shake my fist at pluralizing with apostrophes!

Tries to kick at men in white coats with big white bus.

Ahhhh, I knew you were joking - I used the little green guy to depict that... Where's my webcam!!!!! No one sees me!!!!! No one understands me!!!!!

Isa goes off to sit in the corner and wait for one of the Overlords to comment on her request...

(See, I am invisible. No one believes me on that one either... Except Beerman, of course...)

Yeah, the problem with flagging emails is that it is quite a drastic measure for a fairly minor offense.. That's actually why it isn't in the dropdown, because I don't think it is the right response. The truth be told, I don't really mind that much if people post their email addresses. Though when we can guess that they are doing so for promotional purposes (ie, a tour guide), it's a good excuse to snip it!

That said, I would rather keep the place 'personal info' free - it's just better for the privacy of everyone involved. So maybe a 'Personal Information' flag can be introduced, which doesn't actually highlight the entry as 'Spam' immediately, but does report it to us moderators.

I think a large number of members like the fact that the forums are free of personal information. And, with that said - I like the Personal Information flag idea that doesn't spam immediately. Cool!

Thanks for the response, Peter!! ;)
