i'm looking to book a hostel before i arrive in bangkok as i am a first time traveller on my own, so i am looking for a hostel which is reasonably priced where it will be easy to meet lots of other travellers.
I don't need anywhere particularly cheap, just a nice comfortable hostel for my first few days so i can get settled.
peachy guest house and new marry GH on Phra Athit (west banglampoo - by the river).
just walk in - no need to book. Hundreds of GH around
I stayed in 3 in bangkok-
Asia hotel...very good as the sky train stops at the hotel but a bit pricey.
Orchid hotel- cheap and clean but box like rooms without windows. Not that pleasant.
The best in my opinion was the 'sawadee bangkok inn'..which is on the khao san road- the best place to meet other travellers. Its right in the centre of the khao san road but down a little alley way so its not too noisy. The rooms are fairly nice and it has a good restaurant if you dont want to eat out at night.
Hope this helps.
That's good to know - i've just booked 2 nighhts at the Sawadee Inn - was worried about what it would be like!
I stayed at two of the Sawasdee Inns at Khao San.Also had a look at the others. The one I liked best was The Sawasdee Welcome Inn. Very friendly reception staff at the Welcome.
