So I will be travelling to Asia at the end of feb going into March. I don't know if I I should join up to one of the tour groups such as thai intro.
I did ultimate oz when I was In Sydney and found it to be a Bit of a waste of money and was wondering if people thought the same for the thai one ??
Also if someone is going around the same time I would like travel buddies
Once you are in Thailand you can sign on to tours as you need them in person. You can get tours from local Thai travel agencies in Bangkok and other cities that tourists frequent. Or, your hotel may have a tour desk. They will pick you up at your hotel and return you there when the tour is complete. Usually you are in a van with other tourists.
The weather in March is the beginning of the "hot season." One good thing is that hotels will be at low season pricing.
Bangkok has very good city transportation. Buses and city rail service available. Meter taxis in Bangkok are not that expensive providing you do not pay a set rate and just use the meter. (Meter taxi usually cheaper than tuk-tuks because tuk-tuk drivers want a flat rate!) Thailand in general has some pretty good long distance transportation. Rail service from the top of Thailand all the way down to Singapore through Malaysia. Discount airlines and decent long distance buses available connecting distant cities.
You will meet people in hostels and hotels, in pubs, on tours and just walking around. Tourists visit Thailand every day of the year. Take the time to do a Google search on scams to avoid. If you arrive during the day hours or before midnight there is cheap rail service from the Suvarnabhumi Airport. Meter taxis available at the airport 24 hours a day. Having a hotel available for the first night or two in Bangkok is a good idea. That way you will have a place to direct the taxi too. Khao San Road is popular with young visitors. Sukhumit Nana and Asoke area also popular and you can also use cheap rail service too.
A travel guide you buy or borrow will help you with the things to "see and do." A quick Google search can be helpful for "how to get from here to there" type questions. Always verify the accuracy of any info you get with a search.
Guys can anyone help me to travel malaysia and brunai ?
I have heared that brunai is such a wonderful country for travellers
What passport will you travel with?
I think that Brunei now has Sharia law in place. Do some research on visa requirements. Yellow fever shot may be required.
Malaysia is an easy country to travel in. There is rail service from Thailand to Singapore running through Malaysia. If you are on a tight budget Penang is not too bad when compared to big city KL. But some of the smaller towns may be quite affordable.
Might be better to start a new post just for Brunei or Malaysia.
It's so easy to meet people in Thailand that you don't necessarily need to travel with buddies.
Just my 2 cents worth.
I'll be in Thailand then and would of been travelling since September so feel free to hit me up if you want a travel buddy!
18 female from the UK!
Don't bother doing any tours though, just find people and do it yourself as it works out to be cheaper!
