Hi this is my first posting so i hope someone can help, i'm planning on going to U.S for the first time July/August for around two weeks, i'll be spending the first week in Pennsylvania visiting friends but would like to spend the second by the coast, wanting somewhere quiet (if thats possible in the summer) and laid back, beautiful surroundings to relax and soak up some sun, anyway thanks for any sugestions

Hi lilacwine,

I live in Pennsylvania. Where in Pennsylvania will you be visiting for the first week?

Not too sure about the East Coast beaches, I lived on the beach in San Diego for over 10 years so I'm a little spoiled and never really got into the East Caost beach scene. I know the beaches around here (New Jersey) get pretty crowded in the Summer.

Gotta agree with Travel100. The east coast is not to big on the beach scene. There is the shore as mentioned. You can travel to Myrtle beach. Florida maybe? Boston is pretty laid back. NYC is a cool city to visit. Other than that, I can't recommend any beach areas. Now if you here in California..that's a whole diffrent story.

good luck..

Thanks, Visiting friends not far from Harrisburg Airport. Hmmm have to think abit more on where to go, a Beach would be nice but flexible on that one, I plan on visiting New York and Atlantic City while with friends but "quiet" is the key work for my second week, generally speaking would i be better going north or south of New Jersey ? also are there any areas i should definatly avoid on the coast either for saftey reasons, polution, or just drunken party hell holes ;)

Thanks for any help
