I recommend Indonesia.. Their currency is the lowest in Southeast Asia. Just came back from Mountain Hiking for 6days (Oct 2014) in 2 province of East Java for a mere USD215 (excluding airfare)

Ohkayy here my advice comes: I've been to Pakistan and India this summer for 3months. In short, I am a completely different person right now.

Since you don't want to limit the suggestions, I'll just say: "If you are up for adventure, exaggerated culture mix, lovvvely local people, uncertainity in every single breath, finding yourself, "changing" your innerself, have food for almost free, meeting crazy ones like: fortune tellers, elephant riders, blessed drivers, too talented henna designers and as a very important point: if "people" means more for you than "sightseeing"(there are obviously amazing natural, historical, art related stuff but I'm just trying to make a point) just pack and go! =)

Please do pm me if I can be of any help,

Asena - Turkey
