I have taken the plunge and ordered my tickets at STA in Manchester, they where excellent in sorting it all out but it didn't come cheap. We have 34,000 miles plus an extra 2 flights in South America

Total cost including most taxes was £2200

Manchester-NY
Chicago-Lima
La Paz-Buenos Aires
Sao Paulo-Santiago
Santiago-Easter Island
Easter Island-Tahiti
Tahiti-Auckland
Christchurch-Melbourne
Adelaide-Perth
Perth-Singapore
Bangkok-Hong Kong
Hong Kong-Delhi
Mumbai-Cairo
Cairo-Manchester

Leave on June 5th and cant get any work done just thinking about it.

hi everyone. i am hoping to set off on a rtw trip in may, so i have to hurry and decide where to go, and this all depends a bit on tickets.

i am going to be booking through sta cos then i can get an 18month ticket. my plan at this stage roughly is melb - LA - africa? - london - asia - melb. i can either get a basic ticket with i think 6 stops which is about $2200aust but this doesn't let me fly into africa so i would need to book this separately. other option is ticket based on mileage i think is $2900aust, this would give more like 20 stops as well.

with 18 months i am hoping this is enough to see some places quite well so just wondering does anyone know how much it costs on average to travel by train/bus around europe, us or asia?? and which ticket anyone thinks would be better??

cheers!!
