Hey Hannah!

Haha erm I hope I will have my bearings, could be interesting.

I reckon 2 months max to do the East Coast but I guess that all depends on how much money I go through lol.

I want to have fun for as long as poss! I do have a working visa, how come you are just doing 3 months if you don't mind me asking?

Hey Cat

Your plan sounds really good to travel from Sydney up the coast. I have looked into doing this but not until later on in the year. Hoping to travel out October time to enjoy Australia's summer.

Youll have to let me know how it goes and if you have an advice on places to stay/see.

Hope you have a great time :)

I think I will be in Sydney from 19th June. Was thinking of staying for 4-5 days. So I will probably be around the same time as you Cat. Has anyone booked accommodation in Sydney yet?

I arrive in Sydney March 6th. I've heard great things about wake up hostel so I plan on staying there. I want to travel up the east coast and possibly New Zealand! I've heard and read a lot of great things about the tours the offer up the coast. Would love a travel buddy, I'm a solo traveler and this is my first adventure!

I have spent over 2 1/2 years in Australia and every mile of their coastline is beautiful with great beaches everywhere you look, so being there in their winter, head north as quickly as you can and enjoy the beautiful weather in Queensland. Of course Sydney is a must do but that time of the year I would give Melbourne (pronounced Mel-Bin) a miss.

Hi girls

Message me before you come out if you want and you can come and meet me or I can help you out as I should be all settled by then!

I think I am going to book a hostel around Manly Beach my friend stayed in Manly backpackers and had a great time. Haven't decided on that yet though! could definitely meet you in Sydney, do you fancy doing the East Coast from there?

Wake up is supposed to be good I think, am considering that hostel as well! I think I will chase the sun as Dawn has said with it being winter I want to get up North to start my tan :)

Would love to meet people in the same position as me when I first get out there that I have spoken to before!

Hiya girls,

I'm only doing 3 months as I've applied to start university in september!

Will you book your hostels up the East Coast in advance or do it as you go along?

I've got no accomodation pre booked yet but the STA travel/ Oz experience tours have got a package where you can buy something like 20nights stay in any of their 'BASE' hostels. Not had a proper look into this yet, but you can book/use them as you go along? Thought it would be ideal for when I'm moving onto new areas & wanting to secure a couple of nights accomodation until I get sorted.

Hey, I came out to Oz last October and was in the same position as you guys so might be able to answer some of your questions!

I travelled the east coast (cairns to brisbane) by myself and it's so easy to do and to meet people so you don't need to worry! There are loads of good travel deals from the travel agents over here (I used backpackers world but there are loads!) and most hostels have offers on if you want to book anything else as you go. Personally I wouldn't recommend any of the 'base' or 'nomads' 10/20 night packages or whatever because there are plenty of other (often better) hostels which most people will stay in. I booked my hostels in advance because I was tight on time but you can do it as you go along too - get the hostel world app and you can do it wherever! Definitely do a Fraser Island trip, a whitsundays trip and a skydive - all amazing! Hope this helps :)

Hey Cat

Yeah I will definitely drop you message when I have finalised dates, closer to the time to see whereabouts you are. Would be good to meet up with someone who has already been in Oz for a few months :)

Your post is very helpful. Sounds like you are having a good time and taking part in lots of experiences. Ive looked at a few of the trips you mentioned so definitely going to do those now I hear that they are amazing. Thanks for your help.
