Schweet... Lets meet up for Jaegars then? :)

I'm also going by myself - Like most people on here, and I'm getting a little nervous because I actually grew some balls and made the decision to go by myself, but would love to make some pals to meet up with. :):)

Hi guys, I'm hitting Melbourne at the end of Feb (28th) with two of my friends, both girls, staying in St.kilda for a week. Would be good to meet some people. Not sure on plans yet but want to head where the sun is. Looking to do some farm work but not got a clue where to start or how tonight involved :)

That's like me - I'm not going until May, but will be chasing the sun as soon as possible. :)
Are you going to do your farm work straight away? I probably won't do any until I have to... Nearer the 2nd year. :) x

Hey Jamesmist,

Is this the kind of thing you are looking for: http://jobsearch.gov.au/harvesttrail/? You can sometimes find jobs listed on Gumtree too but it can be hit and miss.

Also Lauren my advice would be not to put it off until you run out of time. A lot of the jobs travellers find don't actually last very long, so if you have planned to do the specified work only in your last three months and get a job that is only for a month with no other prospects... well, it sucks. Get it done as soon as possible so you don't have to worry about it later, and don't forget WWOOFing counts as specified work too, as long as it is in the listed regions.

Good luck!

Oh and don't forget HelpX too. This from wanderingwolf:

"I found Mike and Tanya through HelpX, which more people should know about – especially travellers trying to get their 2nd year visa. Food and accommodation are expensive in Oz, and paid fruit-picking and farmwork is often a lot of sweat for few dollars."

Im living near Sydney at the moment but need to think about travelling too. I don't really have plans becuase im not sure when im going to leave the job im in now. But Lauren it might be around the same time youre coming! Let me know if you want to meet up or something. I've also been wanting to go to Melbourne since i came so plan on doing it as a weekend trip James where are you staying? When i was looking at hostels in Melbourne the last time i went i wasnt sure which one was good to go in location wise? Let me know :)

Thanks for the tip Kellie, I'll give it a try :) Lauren,I'm not too sure when I want to do my farm work, suppose sooner rather than later to get it out the way, definitely want a few weeks exploring before I do anything :) carina I'm staying at the pint on pun in Windsor/St.kilda. It wasn't too expensive for the 3 of us and seems like a good place to meet new people. We've only got a week there from 28th Feb and then hopefully go somewhere else.
