I have no problem recommending Lofoten, but chances of seeing the Northern Lights are not as good as in Tromso. If the probability of seeing Northern lights in Tromso is (I Guess) 60% ( we are a little past the top of the sunspot cycle - at the top of the cycle it is more like 80%) on a Bright night, i guess in Lofoten the probability will be more like 30 - 40%. Of course two or three conesecutive nights without cloud cover gives rather good odds at both Places. Of course quite a few Nights are overcast.

Did you find a place to see northern lights?

I would highly recommend northern Finland. I live in Utsjoki, the northernmost village in Eu. Last winter, we did see the northern lights EVERY week from the beginning of the October to the last week of March.

And what is your budget limit? Finland is cheaper than Norway :)

you can find more information about our beautiful village here: http://www.saamivillage.fi/en/services/

If you have any questions, I am happy to tell you more :)
