In addition to the pics in my profile, if anyone wants to see more pictures, follow the link to my website in my profile, check out the WORK TRIPS journal - you should see the Paris France entry there.

I thought myself quite cunning (like I was the only one! ;) ) to have brought my extra passport photo for the Carte Orange

I got my Carte Orange on a Sunday, so I got a day pass as well. After riding the Metro for the entire day Sunday and seeing the price of the photo booth at Chatalet station, I thought to myself, "why do I need to go and get a stupid picture for my Carte Orange. There is nobody to see it, and it saves me 4 Euros." The metro enterances are all automated.

So the next morning, of course what happens but a Metro officer comes up and asks to see my ticket. She writes the date on the spot where my picture should be and tells me that the next time I am caught, it will be a 25 Euro fine! I went to the Chatalet station, paid my 4 Euros and got my picture.

Of course, the rest of the week no one checked my Carte Orange.

I never got checked, either. Although the woman behind the counter at first just gave me the ticket, and not the card. And as I was wondering where in the world to put the photo, she said "Oh, so you want the whole card, too?"

I met some students who got caught for jumping the booth. They got fined 44 euro each (despite trying to cry their way out of it) - which left them with about 2 euro apiece for the last 4 days of their trip. But! They weren't worried.

Myself and 'er indoors spent 5 glorious days in Paris in March. our hotel was in the 1er arondissement right behind the Samaritaine Building by the Pont Neuf (it featured in the movie "The Bourne Identity". Hotel was pretty basic but what do ya expect for 70 euros / night. The choice of Reataurants is unbelievable and the standard is even better. Did all the usual sights (Champs/Eiffel/Louvre etc) bu the highlight for me was The Pere Lachaise Cemetary in the 20th Arondissement. It is just awesome. you could spend a full day there easily. My main reason for visiting it was to find the grave of my heroine Edith Piaf, but I also saw the tombs of Oscar Wilde, Bizet, Chopin, Proust and Jim Morrison. If you go ther check out the grave of a 19th century journalist called Victor Noir. its weird. Summing it up -- the Best city in the World

Can't argue with that!

About the carte orange, I forgot to bring a passport photo so I had to get a pic from the photomatron (great name, sounds like a - warning, cheesy 80's cartoon reference - Transformer!) as well. My carte looked very ghetto, since I didn't have scissors on me and had to rip my photo so it would fit on the card! lol
