I bought my Oz Experience in the UK to travel up the East Coast but ended up meeting a guy with a car, so I dont need it now and I want to change it for the Kiwi Experience instead as I am heading over there in June time for the Lions tour. I have been to Oz Experience shop twice in Syndey and told me conflicting details (both times they were no help and wasted ages queueing!). The last response was to contact Kiwi Experience but am getting nowhere fast. I take it this has something to do with the takeover of the Oz Exp as I am sure it used to be easy to change these things. Has anyone had similar problems? Has anyone got any useful advice about changing it to the Kiwi Exp?
I've not heard of anyone doing this and in all honesty, even back when they were owned by the same company, these two branches were totally separate from each other. The company I work for sells oz ex, kiwi ex and fiji ex and we get billed from three different locations for this which I'd say is not a good sign as to the likelihood of your getting a refund/transfer on the pass.... I would be very interested to hear if it does work out; this question is sure to pop up at some stage in the future.
One thing that you might try is contacting whoever sold you the pass and having them change it for a kiwi one (provided they also sell these). When we sell oz ex, we issue a voucher and could theoretically change this as long as it hasn't been cashed in in Australia yet. It might be different where you bought it, but it's certainly worth a shot!
I hope it all works out for you, its certainly something they should look into doing.
I was wondering phil if you knew anything about how me and my friend could do about selling our kiwi experience ticket? the refund system only gives you about 20% back which is terrible.
Anyone have any ideas?
Have you tried selling it in a hostel? That might work and you should definitely be able to get more than 20% back!
Thought you might be interested as I had a reply back from Kiwi Experience after I emailed them:
"Firstly if you can e-mail/contact your agent to let them know, which Kiwi
pass you want to do. If the Kiwi pass exceeds the value of the Cobber pass
you can just pay the upgrade fee directly to your agent. Secondly ask your
agent to fax out a copy of the new voucher to the Kiwi Experience office +64
9 366 1374 (attention Lauren) then when you bring your Cobber pass over to
NZ you can hand over your Oz Experience voucher and we will give you your
Kiwi Experience ticket."
I will let you know how I get on with them. Seems to be the most helpful advice that I have received from them so far.
Just to let you know that I have had no response from STA where I bought the ticket. So unless things change, I have a spare Oz Voucher for sale and I am open to reasonable offers for anyone looking for an Oz Experience ticket.
