Hey guys. Looking for some advice. I am thinking if travelling to Australia in the next 6 months to work for a year.

I am a fully trained cocktail bar tender and have great knowledge for premium spirits ales and beers. Ideally I would love to work behind a busy vibrant bar but do not know where's best to look! I have been told Melbourne is great for this kind of thing. Also if anyone using this website knows of any great bars could you point me In the right direction with websites or twitter accounts etc.

Thank you in advance

Rikki!

Hi Rikki,

Welcome to Travellerspoint!

To start with try Seek.com.au for jobs. Don't forget you'll need to get a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate when you arrive as you won't be hired without one.

There are also loads of great bars in Melbourne, which ones will be hiring when you arrive is a different question. Check out broadsheet.com.au or even yelp.com.au for popular bars and then go from there.

Thanks Kellie. How do I go about sorting one out?

I'll defo get looking on those websites thank you very much? Have you or do you work out there yourself?

Rikki, simply put "Responsible Service of Alcohol Australia" into Google and you'll get loads of on-line options to get the RSA Certificate.

Cheers,
Terry

Please note Victoria does not accept online RSAs and in some states you will require a separate RSA (forgive me, I've momentarily forgotten which states are covered by one certificate). You will still be able to google the course though, as there are loads of trainers in Melbourne.

And yes, I'm from Melbourne but currently in the UK.
