I recently tried to publish my first blog post.
Immediately it came up with the following message:
One of your entries was automatically flagged for review, so we've put a temporarily block on your blog.
If this has happened in error, we are very sorry It's meant to block spammers, but sometimes bloggers who have just started trigger it as well.
If this block remains without action for more than a day, please contact us.
I have contacted Travellerspoint twice but haven't had any response and my blog is still blocked four days later.
Any suggestions for how to get it unblocked?
While you are waiting for a Techie to answer your question, why not try this suggestion ...
Go to your blog in EDIT mode.
Copy some of it, maybe a quarter.
Start a completely new blog & paste your copied stuff into it.
Now try to publish that.
If it works, continue to copy & paste into the new blog & see if it stops you at some point.
I suspect Steve's suggestion won't work, and that as soon as one blog has a flag on it, any blog for the same user would have that. I feel your pain, though - four days is a long time to wait when you're just a legitimate traveller.
Unfortunately the TP admin staff has been a bit short-staffed lately, and I haven't seen Peter post in a few days, so I imagine there just hasn't been anyone available to go through the log of blocked blogs. Generally these blocks work extremely well, with very few false positives, and they're one of the most important features to stop spammers in their tracks - but of course they're not perfect, and you probably hit upon a certain combination of keywords in your post that triggered this.
The day is about to start in Australia, so fingers crossed for Peter becoming available today. Posting here should definitely bring it to his attention soonest!
Hi Sam, I've cleared the block for you.
I actually had a look a couple of days ago and the entry just required more checking. There's a lot of links in there, some with affiliate links. And the format is not our typical travel blog. Typically, this entry would be spam, but I wanted to investigate further before banning so I left it until I had time.
Anyway, I've let you have the benefit of the doubt and cleared the flag so you can continue to post. Apologies for the delay.
Thanks very much for fixing this up for me.
