Is the Eurail select pass worth it?

Travel Forums Europe Is the Eurail select pass worth it?

I'll be starting my journey mid-May, from Croatia. I was thinking of getting a select pass for the following countries:

1. Croatia/Slovenia
2. Hungary
3. Slovakia
4. Czech Republic

The prices in CAD are quoted as:

1. 5 days within 2 months = $335
2. 6 days within 2 months = $376

Is it worth it? Or would using buses/trains be cheaper without the pass between these countries?

I've never traveled alone, and this is my first time going to Europe alone, so any help would be lovely. Thanks :)

The transport in these countries are quite cheap. For example, a 4 hour train ride across Slovakia cost me €14, which I bought on the day. Eurail passes are good for Western Europe but are rarely financially beneficial in Eastern Europe.

I'm going to second what O.J. is saying - I don't think it's really worth it. You can get cheap train / bus tickets same day for relatively cheap for those countries which will allow you a lot more flexibility.
