Measles Present in Disneyland

Goodness, I have limited patience for people who are paranoid about the measles vaccination causing Autism. Right after this rumor was released several years ago, it was readily debunked. Unfortuately the damage had already been done and no one saw the study that dissproved this claim. Meaning there are those few who refuse their children to be vaccinated, leaving them susceptible to being a carrier of measles, which could harm others.

Those who do not have allergies to the measles vaccination, should be the ones to get the shot, so we can help out those who are unable to get the shot. BUT that apparently is not an option for those limited few.

Anyhoo I had bought tickets to go to Disneyland last year for April, but my wife and I just found out we are pregnant. However, we were really hoping to take our 5-year-old for his birthday, but at this point we are thinking it may not be wise. Has anyone heard anything about the breakout in Disneyland? )http://www.wired.com/2015/01/vaccinated-people-get-measles-disneyland-blame-unvaccinated/) Is this just an overblown event and should be eradicated by April?

We are locals to Disneyland and maintain annual passes. We visited the park today.

As with any public health issue, you have to assess your personal risk and decide if a visit is in your best interest. The Disney parks draw from a large part of the western states region and that includes some irresponsible parents that do not vaccinate their kids.

The local health department with jurisdiction is the County of Orange, CA. Their measles information updates are located at Orange County Health

Congratulations on the new baby.

Congratulations on the wedding also! So have you chosen to stay in the US for your honeymoon?

That was my co-worker who just got engaged, but I will ask her tomorrow when she gets in to see if she settled on a honeymoon location! I believe they are looking at Taiwan to backpack around for a week.

Beautiful, thank you for the link! I have not been to Disneyland since I was a kid, this should be interesting to see what it looks like now! :)

Hi Kellie

Let me start this by saying I am sorry for the confusion, that was my fault for, not thinking this through!

My name is Mikaela, I work for Gearspoke, we are all about helping people adventure the world, whether that is through tips or through helping them rent equipment. Most of the posts you have seen are primarily from me, and I apologize for the mix-up. James Thompson is the wonderful owner of Gearspoke, and it was his idea to get a company together to help those less fortunate. The problem we ran into was a limitation of being based primarily in Washington. I had the idea to go to this forum, my cousin recommended it and see if I could drum of some conversations about the world.

For which I am truly apologetic, I didn't mean to come off as deceitful, quite the opposite. I was just trying to understand the world from those who have actually experienced it. I mean I have traveled but nowhere near the amount the people on this forum have been.

I hope to get to hear more about Melbourn, my friend Erin Butler lives there! Thank you again for your concern! I will look forward to future conversations! :)

Truly and sincerely Thankful for your help,
Mikaela

You're really better off posting under your own name in these forums.

Unless your intention is to promote your company in our forums, in which case.. well, that's going to be problematic as we take a pretty dim view of that.

Very true! Thank you! I will restart to start fresh! I apologize, this was not our intention to upset anyone!

Happy Travels!
