By some stroke of weird luck that seems to follow me around I found a cheap place to stay in Athens. While home on spring break, I ran into an old friend who happens to be Greek. I'm staying in her mom's dad's cousin's son's place if that makes any sense. He has two places I guess, and is willing to give one to me for the whole month! Needless to say, my parents may just tag along. It's a small place so they get the floor (j/k!)

Anyway, my parents went to the Calgary Olympics, and they said a lot of places will tell you they're sold out and try to rip you off. They went to the Olympics with no place to stay, and found out a zillion foreigners had cancelled reservations at motels in the area and they managed to find accomodations that were reasonable. So for all of you looking, this may offer some hope. (I too was debating the camping thing at one time.) So don't pay an arm and a leg if you can't afford it. And to all of you people who emailed me with $500US/night offers....haha I'm a student, I pay that much a MONTH where I am, how can I pay that per night???? geez...be generous people...unless you're offering me a castle or a night at Chateau Frontenac, I am not paying that! That makes me so mad.
