I think you made the right decision. Remember, with proper prep/research this is not a huge investment or a massive life change... all it takes is a little pile of money and some time, it's really not that big of a deal to head out for a month or two and see a bit of the world.

Have fun and good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

You are making the right decision. This is about you, not your friends or your mum. Your mum making you feel guilty is unfair. You have no reason to feel guilty. Travel and fill you heart's desires. You will not be sorry for the decision you made, but would probably feel sorry if you did not go in this direction in your life. Good luck and enjoy your travels.

Hey All.

SO it seems that I am not the only one who keeps putting off this travelling malarky and am now contemplating due to my age. I'm hoping to go travelling next February on a WHV. It would be awesome to head over to Oz.NZ with a stop off in Asia.

I have continuously made excuses for not going, and one of my main reasons is coming back to nothing. But we have all been at the bottom and made something of ourselves once right? So no reason why I can't do it again.

I guess I am just looking for some like-minded people who are keen to take that leap and also push me to take that leap too.

I'm on FB if any of you fancy chatting on there as I know these threads can get a bit lost. Kellie Wain.

Look forward to speaking to you all :)

Just because society believes a 9-5 job, a partner, children and a mortgage = success and the correct path in life, does't make it so.

I've been thinking lately of becoming a nomad, as there seems to be that there must be more to this life than that.

It's scary and perhaps a risk to veer from what we have been taught is right. But the done thing may well be safe, but who needs safe when we're rotting in the ground! Do what you feel comfortable with, but make sure you do not become too comfortable!

Hope that wasn't patronising, have written that out of nowhere really. Find it hard to talk with my family about it, as I get all their doubts and negative points of view with it and you may have found that with your friends.

Enjoy and good luck in whatever you do

I definitely think you should go for it! Life is to precious to be stuck in a spot you don't want to be living. You only get one life and you have to make the most of it! Someone asked me about a year ago and he said how does your dash on your tombstone look? Meaning, what did you do between the day you were born and the day you die to say your life was amazing and you lived it to its potential! !
