So now that I got my route planned out, Are there any sights/places you guys can suggest I MUST see. Here are the list of places "Sacramento, Napa valley, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Malibu , Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Venice beach, long beach, Laguna beach, San Diego" I think I got Vegas under control.

Because I am in San Diego, I could give you a few ideas there. Seeing as how you seem to like beaches based on your posts, I would suggest La Jolla. It is somewhat different from the standard type beaches such as Pacific Beach in San Diego. If you like the sea, you might try a visit to Sea World. This gives you an opportunity to see different creatures of the sea up close.

While in San Diego, you might want to check out Old Town. This is an original San Diego from the earlier days when the Spaniards were in San Diego. As a result, the town has a Mexican theme. Some of the better Mexican foods are available there.

You might also want to check out the San Diego Zoo, as San Diego boast as having the largest zoo in the world.

San Diego has a trolley system that makes getting around easy and inexpensive.

Remember that August is a very hot and dry month on the coast (and you realize that California is now in MAJOR DROUGHT conditions/good chance of fires in August).

I would head north to the the Pacific Northwest if I were you - it's also dry there in August, but nowhere near as bad as the south. You might start in San Francisco and drive north along the coast (US101) through Oregon and Washington and on to British Columbia.
