Hey :)

i booked a one way flight from manchester to sydney i land 6th september and im doing ultimate oz starting on the 7th :)

im going to take a wheeled backpack i think like the osprey sojourn because i want to be able to do both

After ultimate i have no plans what so ever i just know i want to be in sydney for new years to watch the fireworks,

how long are you staying for ?

I might work in sydney/melbourne till xmas do sydney new years and then travel east coast or i might do the east coast and be back down to sydney for new years

im coming alone and have no idea but im excited

im taking money accros via travelelrs cheques because commonwealthy bank only charge you 8 aud to cash them in, so im waiting for the exchange rate to go up to get them :)

I dont know wether to book bounce for new years or see if i get a place of my own because bounce is $70 a night over the festive period

soo much to plan!

Hey guys! Just booked my flight yesterday :) I'm landing in Sydney sept 23 but stopping over in New Zealand first for a month! Its my first time travelling alone and I'm so excited! Plan on staying in Sydney for a little bit then heading up the east coast but don't have any thing set in stone. Hoping to find some easy going people to travel with! Not sure if I want to do the ultimate oz or not. You guys will have to let me know how you liked it as most of you are arriving a week or so before me.

Hi Soph, I feel the same as you, I want to be in Sydney fpr NYE, but I'm sure everywhere will be awesome. I want to book something in advance but I'm thinking I might wait until September, as then I will have met people and maybe found people to spend xmas / new year with!! Nobody wants to be alone at xmas haha!
As for phones I have been advised to go with Telstra, apparently there is a SIM card you can top up 30aud a month and you get a good deal, look into it!
As for bags I'm going for a Berghaus rucksack, with a zip all the way round so I can access my stuff easily, the reviews on them are great, it's 55 litre +10 day sack 😀 xxxx

Omg 55 litres... I went backpack shopping and I decided 80 litres is my size loool

Everywhere I read it says take less though so maybe I'll have to reconsider :/

Ive read loads about over egging the bag situation. This bag I've seen you can zip all the straps on so it doesn't get caught in carousels at the airport which is cool x

Be aware that all halfway decent placed for NYE will have been booked already by September. You should be able to still find something, but it'll probably take a lot more effort, be more expensive, and less well situated than would be the case with booking between now and June.
