kay1210dance has indicated that this thread is about Australia

Hi I'm headed to Australia in January on my own starting in Sydney and was planning on getting the Sydney to cairns Oz experience package. Speaking to some friends though they've said that Oz experience isn't great as it can be a bit restrictive... have to book up on buses on advance and sometimes have to stay in places you don't like as there aren't buses everyday?

It appealed to me as it includes loads of experiences/tours and your travel is covered as I'm going on my own but I've also heard it's cheaper to book the tours on the east coast when you're there and to keep flexible in case I meet people I want to travel with instead?

Does anyone have any advice, i.e. Oz experience versus greyhound hop on hop off for travelling up the east coast? X

I'd go greyhound every time. It's just regular public transport, where you make your own itinerary, rather than a tourbus that goes in one direction only and tries to upsell loads of activities to you.

Meeting people is super easy in every single hostel along the way (they're all doing the same as you), so no need to go with a tour for that either. (Same, fwiw, for oz intro, ultimate oz, and all those other organizations. You don't need them, and can do it cheaper on your own.)

Awesome, thanks. I think I'm still going to book on Oz intro for when I first arrive, more for my own peace of mind and a starting point for me! Hopefully things will just go smoothly and not be so scary after that! Thanks Sander!x
