For accommodation, there is plenty of choices. Most of those in the central area can be a little pricey. Actually as long as you don't stay in the west, the airport is very accessible and near as Singapore is small.
When you're in Singapore, try out the local hawker centres. There is one at old airport road, (you can google for it), that sells all kinds of local foods. Lau pa sat has good food too but more pricey because it is at Raffles place which is in town and where all the offices are. Try chilli crabs, bak ku teh, chao keuy tiao etc. -snip-
