I really want to start taking photos of all the places im travelling too, i did europe last year but didnt have a good camera so didnt take that many photos- other than the odd happy holiday snaps of friends. Im travelling to Japan, the US and Canada as well as The western caribean and would love to start photographing, but i cant afford the $1500 digital SLR camera i want! Will any camera do? I have a good digital but it isnt good for anything but happy snaps, The resolution isnt the best.

Any one know a good cheap-ish camera. Nothing too fancy. Should i start scouting Cash converters and that kind of thing?

Cash Convertors in Australia could be a very good idea ... OR if there is a "Trading Post" Newspaper issued in your city / area. Best if you can buy from a camera buff, who just wants to upgrade his/her equipment.

I use a cheap Chinese-made digital camera to take pictures. It's small and can easily be carried/concealed in the palm of my hand. I later crop / enhance / reduce the pix on a computer.

It all depends on what you want. But if you want slr think of the new models like the 350d of canon. But of course a film slr is still a good option and i am sure you can get some for a real good price

George
