I went to Paris for the weekend and in the hotel they'd always have Moby's song 'Lift Me Up' playing on MTV. When i got back I bought his album which, would you believe it is ironically called 'Hotel'. Now whenever i play that song it always reminds me of Paris.
Although i did get a bit carried away and had it on repeat for about an hour cause i missed Paris!

Was wondering if any of you had a song in particular or a number of songs that remind you of a place or holiday you went on

Arancia ;)

There's an ad on Irish TV at the moment - bank advertising loans...and its sort of pitched to young people thinking of travelling. There are some great shots from around the world...and the music on the ad gets me all excited about going away when i hear it.

It's "Sparkle" by Rubyhorse. A real feel good tune. :)

Lots of other music reminds me of my travels, there's too many though...i cant go anywhere without my music collection!

Any really bad, loud techno reminds me of Vietnam (i think all techno is loud and bad though). Black Eyed Peas (Where is the Love) and Blue (One Love) remind me of Thailand because i think they were the only 2 records in the whole kingdom 1 time i went. Depeche Mode and World in my/your Eyes? reminds me of drinking Hurricanes at Pat O'Briens in New Orleans. Theres a few others as well, mostly really crap records that seemed to play just over and over again in a particular place.

Everything by Buffett = VACATION
Soundtrack to "Desperado" and Buena Vista Social Club remind me of Panama
Anything reggae means Jamaica

There's one particular song that is strictly Antigua but it means running down stairs to find the CD. I'll get back on that one...

I had to reply when i saw this conversation. Ive just been to south east asia and my best friend and I have a favourite holiday song from Thailand- 'Promise me' by some french woman...it was played every night at silver sands bar on koh samet, our fave island. Needless to say the song is rubbish but we still bought it!

Working on a cruise ship for the past 2 years, our "anthem" is Country Roads by John Denver. It will forever remind me of my time travelling and working on the high seas!! And for the Canadians onboard, Spirit of the West "Home for a Rest".....when you are away from home, the song gives you the best feeling!!!

Actually to be honest dave, the dj at silver sands still plays black eyed pea's all the time...but fortunately we became friends with him so he took a few requests, adding a bit of variety to the playlist! I just thought I should warn you, it hasnt changed that much!

(he still loves red hot chilli peppers as well)
