Lets just say I went to the mining city Potosi, South America. You can buy presents for the miners, which of course involves dynamite. We happened to hide some and take it into town with us, it cost 66p (UK). After an hour walk from town into the countryside we tested our buy, and legged it like a little girl, lets just say i got chased by locals, police and had to make a quick escape from the city last night!! Fun but SO SO SO stupid!
Have you ever done anything as bloody stupid as this!!

So when you first arrived you got some, and now you're getting some again - albeit of a different kind. Sounds like you're having a good vacation!

Tarik,

How did you like Potosi?
Did you go down into the mines?
Was the altitude more of a problem than in La Paz?
Did you also visit Sucre? (if so how was that?)

I really wanted to visit Potosi when I was in Bolivia but didn't have time to do everything I wanted.

Potosi was great.

I did the mine trip, it cost so little, we had this amazing guide who spoke perfect English, the only way he learnt was from a book and talking to tourists.
The mine tour itself was 4 pounds, but we obviously tipped the guide accordingly. It is sad but amazing how people can work in conditions like that, going down to levels of 150 metres where the minerals are richer, but the gasses and fumes are extremely dangerous. They all work together in small collectives when they work, sad thing is that some only last 10 years before dying.
The altitude was a bitch, it is officially the highest city in the world, and yes, i have found it to be much worse than La Paz. I have been at altitude, above 3600 for 2 weeks now, i didnt get altitude sickness at all, its just like when you walk up stairs or a hill you are out of breath, and i consider myself to be fit!
Havent been to Sucre, i didnt feel that it had enough for me there although i have heard good things.
Lago Titicaca next Sat, of course after some partying in the best city in the world, La Paz!

Tarik,

Potosi sounds really cool, sorry I missed it. Where else are you going, or have you been in South America, (or are you only doing Bolivia)?
