Hi there guys,

My name is AJ (27) and I will be travelling from the UK to Thailand, Cambodia Vietnam AND Laos from mid April (sonkran festival!) until end of June/start of August (3 months).
I keep hearing from a lot of people that these countries are really cheap. I don't want to miss out on anything and would like to the the whole lot. (bungee jumping, elephant rides, full moon party etc.) How much money am I looking on taking with me? (flights from and to another country, visas, hostels etc.)

Also, if somebody wants to join me on my trip.. by all means! Im looking forward on sightseeing, meeting loads of people, partying and loads of stories to take back home!!

Would appreciate the help!

i would say at a guess to have around 4k for the 3 months, thats after return flight is booked

can probably be done on less

internal flights are cheap sometimes, from as little as £25 one way, check airasia for decent rates and where they fly from/to

you can do overland travel to. just takes more research to find best companies etc

Hello AJ. My name is Quynh Giao. I'm a Vietnamese student of Ho Chi Minh University of Social Sciences and Humanities. I'm so happy to know that you've chosen my country to visit. Could I know if you want to travel Ho Chi Minh City? I really love making friend with more and more people. Moreover, I will able to introduce some of beautiful places in my country to international travellers, help them if they have problem and, on the other hand, improve my English.
If you need any help or want a friend to go with, please contact me by sending me a message. My Facebook account is
I hope that you will have a nice trip in any country you go to.
Thank you.

Hi there guys!

Thanks for your quick response! Definitly
Some good advice!!

Also. You think 3 months is enough to go and see Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia?

yeah should be enough, depends on what you want to do really, you could easily spend 2 months in thailand, but if your time limit is 3 months for all then just decide what are your main points of seeing in each country and will give you a better idea of how much time to spend in each country. you might find you love 1 place more and stay for longer, you never know

ill be heading off on a year long trip in sept next year. ive done some of thailand and cambodia already last year for 1 month, but will be going back to do some more, as well as laos and vietnam

I traveled for 8/9 weeks to all of Thailand, Malaysia (only for a week) and then Cambodia.

I think spending wise was just under £2000. That includes all internal flights from Chiang mai - Phuket, Kuala Lumpur - Siem Reap. As I had already pre booked my return flight back home from Bangkok.

You'll definitely have enough time to visit all the countries within 3 months easily, as for spending wise you would need around £3000+ just to make sure. As long as you plan a good route, you'll save a shed load of money anyway,

As I didn't plan anything as to where to travel too so it meant back tracking quite a few times. But if you need any more info just give us a message.
