Suggestions for accomodation in a few cities

Travel Forums Europe Suggestions for accomodation in a few cities

I am helping someone plan a trip to specific cities in Europe. I went there as a backpacker. I am trying to help them out with ideas for accomodation. One of the people is my high school teacher. Hence, I do not want to recommend hostels. If any of you have had pleasant experiences at budget accomodations (besides hostels) in any of the following cities, please let me know the name of the place and city in which it is. Here is the list:

a) Paris
b) Gimmelwald (Switzerland)
c) Lauterbrunnen (Switzerland)
d) Interlaken (Switzerland)
e) Venice
f) Florence
g) Rome

I would be very obliged if any of you could help. Thank you.

I stayed here in Paris. It's in the 15 arrondissement, which may be a little too far out of the way for some - but it was only a 10-minute walk to the Metro and the area was quiet. The room was a little small, as hotel rooms in Europe are wont to be. But it was clean and practical and just 40 Euro a night.

probably the best if you point your friend to this website and look in 'accomodation' section

Paris: we liked the hotel Muguet very much. It's a 2* (worth 3*) in a very nice neighbourghood (the 7th) on a quiet street, close to the Eiffel Tower and with 2 metrostops within 5 min. walk.
Venice: you will know that Venice isn't cheap! Not for lodging nor for eating. One I can really recommend is Locanda Ca' Le Vele, a small B&B (6 rooms) in an ancient palazzo, 10 min. walk from Rialto Bridge.
Florence: I haven't been there myself but heard good things about Hotel Medici.
Can't help you with the other destinations.
