Hey guys,

I'm off to Thailand at the end of 2016 and want to visit some of the islands. I have 2.5 weeks.

Can anyone suggest any islands that arnt as popular for travellers (if there is any)?

Any ideas would be much appreciated :)

MattyRex

When you want to visit "islands" that fewer tourists visit you have fewer choices for transportation, fewer hotels to select from, fewer good restaurants. Even fewer good hospitals for emergencies.

Nothing wrong with visiting places that other tourists are visiting. More to do in the evening hours.

Research Koh Chang. Even if other tourists have been there!

Research Koh Sukorn.

Don't waste all of your time in Thailand just visiting beaches. Don't skip Bangkok. Bangkok is cheaper than many island beach areas. (Even in Bangkok and Chiang Mai you can get a tan!)

Go to Koh Kood (Ko Kut) in the same area as Ko Chang, there are a few tourists there but nothing like other Thai Islands - it is peaceful and very beautiful.

Forget Thailand and go to Indonesia. I was just there and heard the Brits are getting killer flights at the moment with Brunei airlines. Fly into Bali and then take the fast boats out to the Gili's they are really laid back and not so crazy as Thailand Islands, and the snorkelling on the reef and turtles are everywhere. Gili Air is the closest island to Lombok and there are no vehicles on the island! Its small enough to walk around but still loads to do there.

Ahhh Indonesia sounds more like my cup of tea, and I've also never been there before.

Cheers for the ideas guys

When you planning on going Mattyrex? Im planning to fly to Bangkok on Xmas day 2016 but hopefully gonna be in South east asia / Austraila. My friends went to Indonesia and said its cheaper then Thailand and the

Vibe

is a lot more chilled main places near Bali are the Komodo Islands the only place in the world where you can see komodo dragons in the natural habitat. Also Gili T islands are not to be missed I've heard the full moon there rivals Koh Phangans famous full moon party only thing is less people which for some people this is better
Hope you have a great time bro

Indonesia has some pretty cool islands, but so does southern Cambodia - could be worth a look in. As for Thailand, the islands in the Gulf of Thailand were far better than in Phuket, even if they were quite crowded as well.
