I'm planning a trip arround the world, i would like to start in New Zealand in february , for a month of trekking, after that , go to Australia , i would like to do a car trip .
Anyone going around the same time? And any ideas on what to do would be appreciated .
If you're hoping to trek around New Zealand yo should probably know that what the locals count as a 'short' hike is normally an overnighter... There's not much inbetween of an hour or two and a week. However, if you really like to get out in the middle of nowhere for days on end, New Zealand south island is definitely where it's at. There's barely 1 million people on the whole of it and there are still places where no ones ever been. I would definitely recommend the Caitlins down south for wildlife (just don't go harassing the sea lions as they will attack and can 'run' a lot faster than you might think) and Malborough Sounds up north for just daggone beautiful. Wanaka and Queenstown are both stunning, but the locals aren't very welcoming and everything is twice the price as everywhere else.
As for Australia, there are way too many places to list, but -snip- (the new south wales one is kind of the only one I've done so far, but have also been to South Australia, Victoria, and Queensland).
