Hello, I am from the USA and am going to Australia on a subclass 462 work visa and I have several questions about health insurance.
Would I need to apply for a specific kind of international health insurance or would getting travel insurance with medical coverage (such as Allianz and worldnomads) be suffice?
This is the last thing I need before being fully prepared to go!
Thanks for the help.
You don't really need the health insurance to qualify for the 462 work visa. They don't even check how much money you have...
I've been on the same visa as well as a more 'difficult to get' visa where I had to send in six months worth of paperwork and they still didn't even check that at the border. It's more a recommendation. However, if you really want to make sure you 'tick the bucket' sta.com offers free health care with one of their cards (under 26, which I assume you are if you're doing the working holiday). It's like $25 and gives you discounts on flights as well (btw, try to fly with Emirates; they are amazing and the food is actually pretty good).
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This is the info I was looking for, I was concerned whether or not they are super strict on the visas (like in the UK) but I have booked with STA and am ready to go to Australia.
No worries. Hope you have a good time. (: And if you want to visit somewhere really unique, check out Mt. Gambier in South Australia...at night...in the Umpherston 'surprise'...and bring strawberries! lols.
