caset23 has indicated that this thread is about Western United States

My future wife and I are going to be traveling from Saint Augustine, FL. across the US. We are planning to cover as much territory and take in as many beautiful sites, national parks, weird and unique places, and awesome places to eat as we can squeeze in. I have driven from Jacksonville, Florida to Los Angeles in just over two days(not doing that again) and some trips driving up north, so I have some experience with trekking in a vehicle. We will mostly be crashing on a mattress setup in my 4Runner, but we will also be staying w friends and staying in some air b&bs.

Although we have some places in mind, (id est Grand Canyon, Yosemite, glacier, big sur, Yellowstone, New Orleans, austin, etc..) we would love to hear about some random, amazing, surreal, must-stops, as well as, some must eats, for our journey.

Any advice, suggestions would be most greatly appreciated!!'n. Thanks all!

How much time do you have ? Heading up to Nashville by 1-65 then looping down to New Orleans by way of Memphis and then highway 61 would give you some amazing food and music......if that is something you might like let me know and I will put you together some of the best stops on that route .

Hey, thanks for responding! We will have a month or more. If you don't mind throwing some stops together, that would be awesome! We have to head back east and are hoping to take in some good tunes and food then as well. I have been to Nashville twice, but sort of stuck with what was on the main strips. Thanks again!

what time of year is this trip? Post 2 is correct about hwy 61. You see the old plantations, the delta area for jazz, natchez, vicksburg and New Orleans will be the food architecture and music height of your trip.

Hey there and congratulations! Most of the places that you mention are definitely worth checking out. I'd also like to recommend you to go and visit Pompano Beach at least for a night or so. I have been there many times in the last few years with friends and you just can't get disappointed. Although it depends on the person, I think that the wonderful nature there combined with some glamorous new structures like the -snip- is surely a sight. You can go to plenty of loud parties but also find quiet and secluded spots as well. Hope I have been useful!
