Hey has anyone done a one year working visa for new Zealand then flew over to Oz for a year visa there? I've only briefly checked it out and saw a visa restriction can be not being in your home country 3 months prior to entering OZ? If things go to plan we would be in Nz for a year then go direct to OZland...

I can't see much on the internet about it though so any help would be great

Happy travels!

I've done that exact thing back in 2003-2005. Where did you read about that restriction? My trip was of course a long time ago, but I've kept reasonably up to date with this WHV through advice I've given here, and I haven't encountered this before, nor am I seeing it in the eligibility requirements on the official site (looking under "Who could get this visa")

Staying a year in New Zealand before going to Australia might not be the most common thing, but backpacking through SE Asia for three months before arriving in Australia is definitely done by thousands of WHV-holders each year, and I've never heard about that being an issue either.

Hi Samson,

Do you have any specific dates in mind for NZL?

I'm currently in Cambodia and head there on the 30th January 2016 on a 1 year Working Holiday Visa, unfortunately can't help you with your query as I have just completed 2 years in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa.

Would be cool to share some ideas if we are in NZL at the same time.

Add me on Facebook - Ben Harris, Bradford(UK)

Cheers
