I want to ditch work and work/travel Australia! Any Advice?

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific I want to ditch work and work/travel Australia! Any Advice?

So I'm 25 and have just realised I am bored of working 9-5, I have plenty of time for that when/if I grow up... I want to start in Melbourne as I have a friend there so wont need to pay for accommodation. But ultimately I would like to travel around and join the backpackers in the hostel life, working where I can to get by...

I have no issue with going alone but I would like some advice on how easy it is to pick up work etc as I don't have any savings... Will I struggle or will I just pick it up pretty quick once I am immersed in it? Does anyone have any suggestions of places to go/work? I want to have a drink and a laugh not just do what I do in England. I am looking for jobs that are no pressure but not boring but that doesn't mean I'm not a hard worker and i'm not afraid to get stuck in!

Any advice welcome!

Working Holiday Visa:

That said, I think you're being really naive going to an expensive country with no savings. That's a ridiculous way to travel. Having free accommodation helps, but my definition of miserable would be broke in Australia.

Good luck.
