Suggestion about the map

Travel Forums System Talk Suggestion about the map

First of all, I think it's a really great website. There are a lot of things to do on it that we can't do on other websites.
Otherwise, I have 2 needs and suggestion.

1- Why is there not a fullscreen button on the map? Because I have a small screen i would like to use the totally screen size to see the maximum of the map.
2- I was looking for how to mark the stop point on the map with a number which one is following the chronology of the trip. Do you know what i mean? (for example 1-2-3-4 ... step by step on all the mark point on the map) :)

Hi daminator, sorry for the late response.

The map was not really designed for small screens. That said, there is a toggle to make the map take up more of the screen. To the right of My Trips | Photos | Stats there is a double left caret (<<;) . Clicking on that will hide the list of stops and show more map. Not quite full screen, but fuller screen :)

There is no option to mark the stops with their position at this point. There are some issues with implementing that, particularly when trips go over 100 stops. We also use numbers to group trip stops when viewing all your trips on a map at once, so it would get confusing if we also used it for this.

I'll take the comments on board as feedback for future improvements though.

Nice to have alternate dating system. The one used is not easily recognised in our hemisphere.

Nice to have alternate dating system. The one used is not easily recognised in our hemisphere.

Aren't you in New Zealand? This dating system is exactly ours - dd/mm/yyyy. The American mm/dd/yyyy is far less widely used and more confusing. The only possible alternative to ensure things are in chronological order would be yyyy/mm/dd but that's probably only used in computing.

We show yyyy-mm-dd in the map interface in the date form.

I think this is the least confusing because the other formats are ambiguous with regards to the order of month / day. When you click on that field it should load up a calendar to select the date from anyway, so actually typing it out is kind of unnecessary.

And when displayed to the person viewing your map it's displayed as "29 Feb 2016" which is universally understandable.

Dates. Fair comment.
Can I load trips back to the 1970s for my family records mainly. It will also show other members where I have been if they wish to enquire.

Yeah, no problem at all entering old trips :)
