I'm thinking of buying a eurail pass for my europe trip next year, but i was just wondering if anyone has any experience with it already, whether it is worth it and how do you use it?

The passes are expensive. You'll find that some railroads, such as Austria's OBB, offer substantial discounts on tickets purchased in advance on their Web sites. Many offer special deals to other countries. Some even offer inexpensive packages, such as OBB's train/boat roundtrip from Vienna to Melk, which is on the Danube. There are regional passes. Sometimes it's cheaper to fly. Last fall I looked into taking a train from Lisbon to Madrid. It was far cheaper to fly. Some useful Web sites:

When I travel in Europe, I use both trains and planes. Sometimes I uses buses, such as in the Baltics.
