Zanzibar is a major tourist destination; and it's not difficult to find solo women traveling there, particularly to the beaches on the northern end of the island near Nungwi.

If you're going, protect yourself against malaria and other illnesses.

I was there in November 2013.

You should consult your doctor about any vaccinations you need.

This is a useful Web site: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/tanzania

Since you're from Ireland, check with your government's advice on travel to Tanzania, including Zanzibar: https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/a-z-list-of-countries/tanzania/

Sorry, I don't usually make recommendations for accommodations. Check with the many online sources, including TripAdvisor.

Sorry, I don't usually make recommendations for accommodations. Check with the many online sources, including TripAdvisor.

Or you could have a look at the ACCOMMODATION page right here on TravellersPoint.

Some hotels on there have links to Trip Advisor & even better, there are sometimes reviews by TP members who have actually been to that hotel - so you could message them about it through the link. The TP reviews are not near the Trip Advisor icon, but under the the word 'MORE' at the foot of some hotels - has the TP members name as a link and a bit of the review.

It's a pity there is no filter or sort ability to find just the ones reviewed by TP members - that would be useful I think.

I have been to Zanzibar & it is one of the most exotic place I have ever been to - I talk about it here .. & here on my TP Blogo.

Happy travels.

Steve
