I'm planning on visiting Australia at the end of the year and one of my friends has told me about Sydney Harbour YHA. Apparently they have views of the whole harbour and do a New Years Eve party up on the balcony, where you can see the fireworks. plus you get to stay the night in the hostel.
I looked at the yha website (https://www.yha.com.au/hostels/nsw/sydney-surrounds/sydney-harbour/) and it said that bookings open 23 March. Has anyone ever booked this package before? Do you know if they sell out fast? My plans for December aren't concrete yet but this looks really cool and I don't want to miss out.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!!!
Expect anything to do with NYE in Sydney to sell out fast, yes, particularly accommodation. Given that the room-rates for this hostel only seem to be double what I consider to be a normal rate, and it really is in a prime location, that should hold very much. Their PDF seems to say they release rooms during the course of the day, so expect there to be heavy competition, and to spend most of the day before you luck out and actually get yourself a bed.
I know people on this forum have booked that hostel before, but I can't recall hearing any experiences. I'm personally generally a fan of the smaller YHA hostels, but a big one like this one is pretty much guaranteed to be at least pretty reasonable.

Thanks! I've read the reviews of the hostel and they seem pretty good so I think I'm just going to sit on my computer from 9 and try and get a spot!!
