Hi there - I'm a 27 year old girl from Dublin in Ireland looking for anyone who might fancy joining me on a trip to Oz and NZ around Nov 05. Have no formal plans as yet but am open to anything and everything!! Am jacking in my job and going to 'find myself' (hopefully!!).. and as much craic as possible along the way. My mates are all pretty settled at the mo' and not really interested in travelling so if you're in the same boat as me, give me a shout...would love to hear from ya.. and maybe meet up somewhere along the way. You can drop me a line at doylega@hotmail.com ...byeee

Hey Gemma

I know how you feel! I think everyone just wants to get away from Ireland at the moment!

I'm heading to Oz from Thailand in the middle of October and will be travelling around for 3 months til beginning of January, there's just 2 girls going - me and 1 mate so drop me a line when you decide a route - we're starting in Perth, going Ayers Rock to Cairns and then all the way down the east coast.

Heya folks,
I'm a 24 year old lad from Dublin goin on a round the world trip on the 1st September with a couple of friends of mine, 2 other lads. We finished college last May and just gettin a yr's work in before we head off.
Just joined this site there a few mins ago, think its a great idea for getting info etc and even chattin to people who are in the same boat.
I cant feckin wait to head off, gonna be so much craic!!
Anyway, just said I'd throw a message up to see if anyone replies, as I said, bit of a novice at all this but could be really helpful to find out stuff before we go, as in how much money are we gonna need???? No idea! But wanna do as much as possible and love a good session so I'm kinda thinkin not to worry bout the money side, only doing this once so wanna make the most of it.
Anyway, kinda waffling now, if anyone gets a spare minute to reply that'd be cool, if not sure not to worry!
Cheers,
Ciaran

Hey,

Yep,seems like everyone wants to get out of Eire these days.Leaving my boring, boring job in Galway to go RTW on 30th August with 2 mates.
Sounds like our itineraries are uncannily similar Ciaran only we're doing NZ instead of Oz for the working thing and hopefully 3 months in south America. Will definitely be in SE Asia around the same time, planning on visiting the same countries as yourself.
Slightly freaking out about the money but feck it, reckon the bank can help pay for everything.
These are going to be a long few months though.
If we dont cross paths best of luck to everyone.

Brendan

Yeah there seems to be so many people leaving here to go off travelling at the moment - well its either that or buying a house, what the f*cks up with that?? I'm 24 not 44!!! Travelling has to be done though, only finished college since end of May but there's no way i'm staying in this boring 9-5 for the rest of my life!! Not sure what'll happen when I go, be so difficult to come back, or so I believe! My brother and 2 sisters have all done the year in Oz and had an absolute ball, my brother was back 4 days and was depressed!!!
Anyone have any ideas on how much we're gonna need? I dont really care about having a loan to pay off when I'm home, its gonna be well worth it and plenty of time to pay it off.
Cheers,
Ciaran

Hey Aileen,

Sound's v similar to what I'm doing - Thailand on 12th September for 4 weeks on to Perth - Alice Springs/Ayers Rock - Cairns by early November then spending 2 and a half months travelling down the east coast aswell - spending Christmas and New Years around Sydney.
Heading to Fiji for a week on 5th January, then LA for a week after that then Miami and then home on 22nd January.
It's just me and one other female mate going - both 22. Both just finished college and couldn't face going straight into a "career".

Should definately meet up along the way,

Sarah

Aileen, Sarah
Hey girls. I was just wondering, I see you's are going to Fiji on your travels, same as myself and my two friends, but was just wondering if you's have much information about Fiji?? I've had a look at some websites but its kinda hard to get an idea of what the place is like, as in, nightlife etc. And not sure whether you have to book accomodation beforehand or just when we arrive?
We're not there til summer '06 cos we're doing the RTW 12 month thing, leave on 1st September, its too far away though!!!!! Four more months in this bank, God-damnit!!!Cant wait though!
