hello!
me and my husband (age 56 and 64) are planning to visit melbourne in last week of November 2016 and plan to stay there for about 10 days and then go to sydney and cairns for about 8 days. i want to know if its possible to go round sydney and cairns in that period of time. would like to see GBR, kuranda and ra├Čnforest while in cairns. we are travelling from india. we would like to know if this is feasible . are there any other interesting points and what will be the approximate expenses for sydney cairns tour of 8 days. can any one give a detailed description of how to go about it. we are travelling to Australia for the first time.

Will you be hiring a car? There's easily enough around Cairns to keep a couple of tourists busy for a week or more; Green Island, Fitzroy Island, Atherton Tablelands, Mossman Gorge, Daintree River, Port Douglas, Karunda Skyrail, Cairns itself and the same can be said of Sydney; Circular Quay and the bridge and opera house, Darling Harbour, the zoo, the aquarium, Bondi, Manly, the Blue Mountains and more.

If you're competent drivers then hiring a car and planning it all yourself is, in my opinion, definitely the best way to go (you'll need to fly between Sydney and Cairns though). You could try a travel agent, either in your own country or in Australia, but that'll put the cost up and you'll have to keep to their schedules each day. As has been said before "Google is your friend"!

Enjoy Australia!
