I am currently living in New Mexico, USA and I got an internship in Norway for this fall. I have been looking for the cheapest possible way to get to Norway from the US in September. I am the adventurous type and I am open to any ideas. I have looked into crewing a yacht, re-positioning cruises, and simply flying there.
I will need to get back to the states after the internship is over in late November. I will probably just fly back. If anyone has any tips for me it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Your best bet would be to fly Norwegian Air from either Los Angeles or Oakland.
Then, for your return, fly from Oslo to Las Vegas. This is a new flight that begins Nov. 1; and is once weekly. See below:
Norwegian in winter 2016/17 season is introducing new nonstop route to Las Vegas, as the airline opens reservation for Oslo – Las Vegas route. This 1 weekly Boeing 787-8 service will begin on 01NOV16.
DY7101 OSL1345 – 1510LAS 788 2
DY7102 LAS1710 – 1155+1OSL 788 2
Ditto Berner, you'll never beat the ease//simplicity/cost of a researched flight. Especially from New Mexico.
Just tack on another $100 or so to get from Albuquerque to/from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas on Southwest Airlines to the cost of your Norwegian Airlines ticket. There are other options. Check out kayak.com, skyscanner.com or google/flights. Sorry I can't help further, as I am on my way home from Santiago, Chile.
