I have had heel spurs and am not comfortable without shoes. May I slip a sock over my street shoes to enter the temples in India?

Your previous posts on the Forum indicate you're familiar with travel in India. You should already know that shoes are not allowed in temples. Some allow socks; but others not. When I visit temples, I remove both shoes and socks and follow all the rules out of courtesy and respect. I do that, even with heel spurs.

I also remove shoes when entering homes where it is customary.

Only shoes are not allowed in temple. You can wear socks. There is no restriction in that.

In my experience socks are not allowed in some temples, particularly in southern India. As mentioned before, it's best to follow all the rules out of courtesy and respect.

I agree, socks are not allowed too in some temples while other temples allow it. Anyways, whatever their rules you should obey them and submit to whatever is expected from you. The 1st thing to keep in mind is you should respect their sacred temple.
