Hi,

I'm Eddie, 25 from Glasgow. I'm gonna be backpacking Bolivia for around a month or so and the Peru for between a month and a half to two months. Maybe also part of Colombia depending on time. I land in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on the 30th May and will be taking it from there. I plan on going pretty slowly, cheaply and getting off the beaten track a lot. I will be on my own. Looking for like-minded people that would like to join me or meet at some point. If anyone will be on this route and feels like meeting up or if there's anything you'd like to ask me feel free to message me!

Thanks,

Eddie

Hi Eddie!

My partner and I will be travelling to South America if all goes according to plan end of June. For a first time it all seems a a bit daunting..where to start etc. So I was recommended a site that provides you with hosts all over the world that would provide you with food and accomodation in return for a few hours of work week days which I think is awesome as it will save a lot of cash plus it will help to settle in etc. I haven't known where to start before I checked this site and now I feel a lot more confident. :-) I have messaged a family in Argentina who wants help with their horses but there is a wide variety of anything. One family wanted help painting their 5 bed house. Have you done much planning yet?

Hi,
I did something similar to that when I was in Sri Lanka last year. It was very helpful as I was on a tight budget and it helped me to get into the culture etc. I don't think I will be doing it in South America though as my budget is a bit more comfortable. As for planning I have a handful of things that I really want to do, but other than that I am very flexible and will just be working my way around Bolivia and Peru pretty slowly.

Hi Eddie

I was thinking that it would be the easiest way for us to get into the whole travelling thing cause I don't know where to start otherwise. Some travellers have advised that it is cheapest to fly into Chile or Argentina first. How will you go about it then, just fly into Bolivia and look for the nearest hostel...?
It's all a bit daunting if I must say. :(:)
Peru is definitely on our list for the obvious reasons and Bolivia I haven't quite looked into yet but it is on our list as well. Are you on Facebook?

Yeah it may be cheaper flying into Chile or Argentina. I haven't really looked at them as I'm only focusing on Bolivia and Peru. I have a hostel booked for the first few days in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and then i will just be winging it and finding hostels etc. From what I've heard and read they are a lot and are usually pretty easy to find.

Hi Ash,

Yes I'm flying tomorrow from Glasgow, but because I'm going to Bolivia first I have to change flights twice in the US! Think flights may be easier/more direct to more popular places like Argentina or Brazil or whatever, but I haven't really looked into them.

Yeah, I want to do quite a few treks, never really did any but am looking to get into it. Also want to see a few of the more popular attractions etc but want to visit a lot of smaller towns and less touristy places.
Haven't got anything set in stone, just hoping to meet people in hostels etc.

Sounds good! Yea me too... Have you booked your flight from place to place and back?

Ok cool, well I may head over there depending on how things pan out... Ill check out flights etc.
Airbnb looks great also, perhaps a gd way to get to know the locals and experience the culture!
