In all honesty i'm gonna say Canada ... er, sorry thats World Cup of Hockey... Soccer is too hard to say... it could be anyone.. i'm gonna go with Italy, Spain, Brazil or England... my long shot would be the Czech, Sweden, Denmark or Holland...

I've got a 1/4 chance!!

I fancy Ireland to go further than we have before (i.e. Quarter Finals) we have our best crop of players ever, in my opinion, and they have been playing as a tight unit under Brian Quinn. I fancy Brazil strongly though, no defence in the world could hope to handle Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano....they are too strong.

p.s. England!!?? Don't make me laugh, every four years like clockwork the english get all misty eyed and delusional about their world cup chances. It always ends in some poor unfortunate player taking the brunt of the blame from the poisonous tabloids there. England got a great draw in their qualifying group, having to face the might of Wales, Austria, Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan. When they come up against a competent side, they'll be beaten easily, as usual.

If you are a betting man. Bet on Brazil.

Joe, i think you're misguiding people who don't know much about football here. Argentina are top of the South American group at the moment, and Brazil have drawn or lost more games than they have won so far. In recent tournaments England have not been beaten easily (Euro 96 - ko'd on penalties, WC98 ko'd on penalties, WC02 beaten by a fluke goal be eventual winners, Euro 2004 beaten in really close game by host nation). England have more world class players throughout the team now than they have had in recent history, and some will be better in a years time. As for the delusional jibe - Ireland in the Quarter Finals - they are currently 4th in there group, so they are a lot further away from being in Germany than England, so maybe all football fans can get delusional!!!!
