Traveling at a young age

Travel Forums Europe Traveling at a young age

Hello everyone! I'm a 18 year old male from Canada and i really want to travel through Europe and no of my friends seem to want to do it, they either think it wouldn't be fun or they want to sit on a beach in Mexico and get drunk and yes that would be fun but that's not what I want. I want to experience new things (food, culture, the way of living etc). But am I too young to do it alone ? I personally don't think it would be that bad alone but obviously I would like to experience Europe with a friend. To anyone who has travelled Europe at a young age alone please give me feedback, that would mean so much to me. Thanks!

Too young? Why in the world would you say that?!

You're an adult. No issues whatsoever with travelling, especially to a place like Europe that has such an excellent tourist infrastructure and where it's so easy to research everything.

Relax. Have fun.

As Terry says, it's not a problem.

If you research some hostels you'll get a sense of whether they're a party place or quieter, then choose which suits you better. You'll meet plenty of people doing the same thing as you in the hostels, so you'll find company, and you may occasionally link up with people to travel together for a while. If your existing friends don't want to travel you can find plenty of new one who do - they're out there already travelling.

Good luck. :-)

I think you are definitely in your prime when it comes to travel.

Not only is Europe safe, I would also say that its perfect for a young male like yourself. Plenty of culture, plenty of things to see, amazing food and to top it off cheap as drinks.
If you feel unsafe just make sure you hang out with people you meet at hostels, go on pub crawls and in no time you will find new buddies you can travel around Europe with. That's at least how I did it.

Good to know you're mind set when it comes to travelling is not the same with bunch of your friends who want to go to mexico just for petty fun. I guess at your age you are mature enough to decide if you want to go solo on your travel to Europe. If you are eager to go solo why not, there's nothing wrong with that provided that you really want to explore the culture, food, way of living and a lot more. I think you're a responsible person so do it! Now!
