Travel Forums Europe VISA INQUIRY

Hello,

My name is Vignesh DN, I am from Bangalore and would be travelling to Europe for a volunteer exchange program for 10 months which is partially sponsored.
.

3 Months in Iceland - 15th June to 31st August

8 Months in France - 1st September to 30th April

I am at the end of my wits here as I don't know how to go about exactly, so let me break down my queries in the form of points

1) In the VFS VISA page, it was given that if an individual is travelling to more than 1 schengen country then the countries in which he/she is staying for a long time is where I am supposed to apply but I would be going to Iceland first and then to France so even if I apply for the Iceland VISA, then can I apply for the French VISA from Iceland ?,

2) Since I am supposed to have a copy of my airline ticket should I have the copy of my flight ticket from Iceland to France.

3) I can take travel insurance for a period of 180 days, I'll be in Europe for 320 days so would it be acceptable if I take 2 insurances policies accordingly ?

4) I was told that this was a complicated case and I understand that, I want to represent my country in Europe while I learn and experience the rich culture that Iceland and France offer. I would be really grateful if this can be sorted out.

A Schengen visa covers entry to Schengen area, which includes Iceland & France
You do not need a visa for Iceland AND France - Just a SCHENGEN visa.
France visa the rules FAQ Q1 says that you should apply to France for the visa as you will be there more days than in Iceland.

2) Since I am supposed to have a copy of my airline ticket should I have the copy of my flight ticket from Iceland to France.

I think you need confirmation of ENTRY to the Schengen area, so no, no need for the Iceland France Segment but I would give it to them anyway. Plus - they may want confirmation of your LEAVING the Schengen area.

3) I can take travel insurance for a period of 180 days, I'll be in Europe for 320 days so would it be acceptable if I take 2 insurances policies accordingly ?

No idea, but If two policies cover the whole period I cannot see a problem

I have given you my opinion - You should be asking visa questions from the people who are going to issue the visa. The link I gave above has a 'contact us' tab.

If this is an organized 'volunteer exchange program' then I do not understand why the organizers are not advising you on this. What your post does in my mind is raise RED FLAG questions as to the legitimacy or at least competence of the program you are apparently becoming involved with.
