Most tourists start in Bangkok. From there you can check out cities like Chiang Mai and some beach locations. Expect some rain issues. But depending on location often the rain is over in a couple hours. See weather map below. Some specific area information is listed on the bottom.

I am assuming you are traveling round trip to Bangkok. If arriving Thailand with a one way flight, and no Tourist Visa you pay for ahead of time, you might have a problem leaving your home airport. A one way ticket requires Proof of Onward Travel. This means a flight out of Thailand within 30 days if you plan on entering with the free Visa Exemption.

Different countries means different visa requirements. From Bangkok there are discount airlines that you can use to fly to another country. BTW - Bangkok has 2 airports if scheduling onward flights.

For the first few nights at least have a hotel to head for. Forum search will give you some posts for hotels and posts for "female solo traveler" or "woman traveling alone" type questions. Take the time to read some because it might save you money. Always read up on scams to avoid before becoming a victim! Know how to use taxis in Bangkok. (Forum search and even a Google search can be helpful.)

For hotel help include your price range. Bangkok is a big city so know where to stay. Buy a travel guide if you want. For your age look into the Khao San Road area of Bangkok. Know what your daily budget is. (Change your money in Thailand for best rate. If you plan on using a debit card for ATM withdrawals keep in mind there is an ATM fee for this. Look into this. Don't make a small withdrawal with a big fee.)

Tell your bank that you will be using their card overseas before you leave on the trip. My advice is to not rely on a single debit card because you could lose it or damage it. Or someone you share your hotel room with could steal it.

Safety. You can do a lot of things alone if you want. When people want to meet you choose a neutral location and don't give a hotel room number or even a real name. There are guys in some cultures who are raised to believe that a woman traveling without male escort will share her hotel room and put out! So screen out the creeps in a safe location such as a McDonalds or maybe a food court in a mall.

Forum search and Google searches will be helpful.

Good luck.
